In 2017, Easton Parish Council set about looking to improve speed calming measures in the village. Following prolonged delay from Suffolk Highways and a persistent lack of clarity as regards costs, the works were eventually carried out in August 2022. However, indicative of the high inflation we continue to endure, Suffolk Highways requested an additional payment of over £10,000 for the measures.

I subsequently urged Suffolk Highways to cover these cost increases, as it was wholly unfair to expect the Parish Council to pay for a shortfall on account of a cumbersome and incommunicative service provided by Suffolk County Council. Happily, Suffolk Highways have since agreed to cover the shortfall, meaning Easton Parish Council are no longer liable for the costs.
